France withdraws from NATO mission, condemning Turkey's double game

French authorities announced their withdrawal from the NATO mission in the Mediterranean Sea, condemning the double game of Turkey, reports Le Figaro. The publication notes that France announced the temporary withdrawal of resources allocated for Operation Maritime Guard in the Mediterranean Sea. More than two weeks after a serious incident involving the French frigate Le Courbet, tensions between France and Turkey are growing. Double play and Turkey's aggressive behavior are categorically condemned by Paris. It is known that on June 10, 2020, the French frigate Le Courbet tried to detain a Turkish cargo ship suspected of transporting weapons to Libya and violating the UN embargo as part of the implementation of Operation Maritime Guard. Accompanied by three Turkish frigates, which are themselves associated with the NATO operation, the ship refused to comply. This is not a one-time event, the French authorities said, citing a list of similar violations by other Turkish courts. Faced with French accusations, Ankara decided to resort to threats. Without Turkey, there will be no NATO! warned Turkish Ambassador to France Ismail Hakki Musa. According to the news agency, the European Union foreign ministers will meet on July 13, 2020 at the request of France to discuss relations with Turkey.
